Through the Lens – Tips for Conducting an Effective Video Interview

Through the Lens – Tips for Conducting an Effective Video Interview

The COVID-19 pandemic and its social distancing requirements have created some new challenges for investigators in human resources, corporate security, ethics and compliance and law enforcement. Without the ability to meet face-to-face to conduct interviews, investigators are missing some critical elements of communication that they rely on when gathering evidence.

Many investigators have already been conducting some interviews by telephone and video when circumstances prevent them from meeting with an interview subject in person. These interviews have traditionally been for non-critical witnesses or for corroboration. Today, even the subject of an investigation, the complainant and critical witnesses may need to be interviewed by video. Investigators must develop the skills and knowledge to connect with these witnesses virtually to get the information they need to make credibility determinations and well-reasoned findings.

Join Allison West, Esq., SPHR, SHRM-SCP, AWI-CH, attorney, investigator, trainer and founder of Employment Practices Specialists, as she shares best practices and tips for conducting effective video interviews.

The webinar will cover:

  • Challenges in assessing credibility via video
  • Tips for effectively setting up your office, including lighting, camera and microphone use
  • Organizing and sharing documents
